CP-HE system
Propeller system with controllable pitch propeller
The WM CP-HE(S), propeller system is a controllable pitch propeller system that are used on standard gearboxes without servo inside the gearbox. (S) is for sailing yacht with fully feathering propeller.
The pitch is controlled/adjusted by oil flow in a hydraulic cylinder moving a piston connected to the propeller hub with a rod inside the propeller shaft. Inside the propeller hub are parts that allows the propeller blades to have pitch setting from reverse to design pitch + some extra pitch.
The basic control system is a leaver with a hydraulic valve and a potentiometer for actual pitch setting. Signals are compared and the hydraulic valve open/close for pitch adjustment to these signals. For smaller systems up to 60 mm shaft it can be delivered with a hand pump. More advanced control systems can be delivered.
Since there is no need for direct mounting to the gearbox it can have a flexible coupling between the gearbox and the propeller system. In these cases, it will be fitted with a trust bearing if needed.
For electrical propulsion, the WM CP-HE is normally delivered with a trust bearing in cases where there is no gearbox between the propeller system and the electrical motor since most electrical motors cannot take propeller trust.
The WM CP-HE(S) system is delivered in shaft diameters from 40-100 shaft diameter and 3- or 4-blade propellers. The response time for the pitch setting is very quick, quicker than gearboxes with servo. The system is designed for simple and easy maintenance at a low cost.
The propeller system can be fitted for almost all applications and power sources. It can also be delivered with the CP-unit in front of the gearbox for gearboxes with that option.
